The average rate of change of the given function between x = 4 and x = 12 is computed as follows:

(f(12)-f(4))/(12-4)

Replacing with f(12) = 15 and f(4) = 25,

(15-25)/(12-4)=(-10)/(8)=-(5)/(4)

The average rate of change is -5/4
