SOLUTION

We want to know what the expressions

\begin{gathered} ((4+8)/(-3))*6^2 \\ P(1+r)^n \end{gathered}

What both expressions have in common is that they have an item raised to a power.

Their differences is that

((4+8)/(-3))*6^2

is not an exponential expression and it has 6 raised to power 2 and can be simplified directly to give a real number.

But

P(1+r)^n

is an exponential expression. It has (1 + r) raised to power n. It cannot be simplified directly. For it to be simplified directly we need to know the values of P, r and n.
