Explanation:

He want's to have at least $40 left over to spend on snacks.

So he will have at most 100 - 40 = $60 to spend on videogames and other things.

Each game is bought for $5.

He can buy at most $60 in games. So the most he can buy can be found using a rule of three.

1 game - $5

x games - $60

Applying cross multiplication

5x = 60

x = 60/5

x = 12

The maximum amount of video games Zach can buy is 12.
