the selling price of the shoes is 290 $

let the cost of the shoes is x

then

1450 % of x will be 290 $

\begin{gathered} x*(1450)/(100)=290 \\ x=(290*100)/(1450)=20 \end{gathered}

so the cost of the shoes is 20 $
