Given the equation:

E=mc^2

To solve for c.

First step:

Divide both sides by m

\begin{gathered} (E)/(m)=(mc^2)/(m) \\ \\ (E)/(m)=c^2 \end{gathered}

Second step:

Take the square root of both sides

\begin{gathered} \sqrt[]{(E)/(m)}=\sqrt[]{c^2}^{} \\ \\ \sqrt[]{(E)/(m)}=c \\ \\ c\text{ = }\sqrt[]{(E)/(m)} \end{gathered}

ANSWER:

c\text{ = }\sqrt[]{(E)/(m)}
