Answer:

2/3+2/3 is greater than 1 1/4, so Edward does not have enough oil

Explanation:

2/3+2/3=4/3, or 1 1/3

So now it's is 1 1/3 greater than or less than 1 1/4, which is just a matter of if 1/3 is greater than 1/4. 1/3 is 0.33 repeating, and 1/4 is 0.25, so 1/3 is greater than 1/4

1 1/4 is the amount of oil he has, and 1 1/3 is the amount required, which is more than he has so therefore he can't make 2 batches

Explanation:

I figured it out!!

it should be greater than. the reasoning for this is if you equally split a rectangle into 3 pieces and then also split the same sized rectangle into equal pieces then which pieces would be bigger? the Rectanhle that is split into 3! this is because you have less pieces to split the rectangle into so the less you have too split the rectangle to larger the pieces are!!
