The meaning of;

(x)/(4)

In algebra, when there is an unknown number it is generally represented by a letter (such as x,y,z etc.)

The letters x in x/4 represents an unkown number.

So, x/4 represent the unknown number x divided by 4.

For example; if x=20, then;

(x)/(4)=(20)/(4)=5
