The following function models the population of rabbits, in thousands, in a state x years after 1990.

f(x)=110\cdot(1.004)^x

What is the approximate population of rabbits in 2012?

Count the number of years after 1990 to 2012.

That's 22 years so we have x = 22

Let us substitute x = 22 into the above function

\begin{gathered} f(22)=110\cdot(1.004)^(22) \\ f(22)=110\cdot(1.091796) \\ f(22)=120.09756 \end{gathered}

That is approximately 120 thousands or 120,000
