since we know a= -3 we can link up a^2 as -3^2. we can write -3^2 as an equation;
-3*3
once we multiply the equation we get -9.
therefore a^2 is -9

Answer:

a = 9

Explanation:

a^(2) = a*a

a = -3

-3 * -3 = 9

NOTE: 2 negative numbers multiplied by each other always equals a positive

So.... a = 9
