A father is 28 years solder than his daughter. In six years, he will be 3 times her age. Find their present ages.

Please use an algebraic equation to solve, and show your working. A photo of your working out on paper is also fine as long as I can read it.

Answer: father:45

Daughter:17

Explanation:

Present

Father (X+28)yrs

Daughter X yrs

After 6 years father will be (X+28)+6= 3x

28+6=3x-x

34=2x

X=17yrs=daughter

Father=28+17=45yrs
