Answer: Biodiversity is the variety of life, which is responsible for ensuring the balance of ecosystems around the world. It provides necessary goods such as food or oxygen, it provides raw materials that favor economic development, it produces energy that we use as fuel, and it is the origin of some medicines. An ecosystem is a set of living beings (of different species) that share the same habitat or biotope. There are first of all primary producers, those that are capable of producing organic matter from inorganic compounds. These organisms are autotrophs, such as plants. Then we find in the second step the consumers, heterotrophic organisms (herbivores, carnivores or omnivores) that feed on matter and energy produced by other living beings. And in the last link of the trophic chain of organisms that make up an ecosystem we find the decomposers, those that feed on dead organic matter. In this way, there are complex interactions between different organisms of different species.
