The linear equation for the graph shown is y = 2x + 1

Using the points on the graph ;

(3, 7) ; (1, 3)

The linear equation is represented in the form :

y = bx + c

b = slope ; c = intercept

slope = change in y / Change in x

change in y = 7 - 3 = 4

change in x = 3 - 1 = 2

Hence, Slope =4/2 = 2

From.the graph, the point, where the line crosses the y - axis (where x = 0) is 1.

Hence, the equation becomes ;

y = 2x + 1

Complete question:

The cost of custom-made cookies at a bakery is shown on the graph below, where x represents the number of cookies and y represents the total cost. Determine the equation of the line .

The equation of a line is given by:

y=mx+b

where m is the slope and b is the y intercept. From the graph we notice that b=1. To find the slope we need to use the formula:

m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)

Using the first two points on the graph (0,1) and (1,3) we have that the slope is:

m=(3-1)/(1-0)=(2)/(1)=2

Plugging the values in the first equation we have that the equationwe are looking for is:

y=2x+1
