$\log _2(x)-3=1$

Add 3 to both sides:

$\begin{gathered} \log _2(x)-3+3=1+3 \\ \log _2(x)=4 \\ 2^(\log _2(x))=2^4 \\ x=2^4 \end{gathered}$
