To find the area of the figure you can divide the figure into to smaller shapes

calculate the area of each of the smaller figures.

for the square


\begin{gathered} A=s\cdot s \\ A=3\cdot3 \\ A=9 \end{gathered}

For the triangle the base is the difference between the longest side which is 7 and the side on the square which is 3


7-3=4

find the area of the triangle


A=b\cdot(h)/(2)
\begin{gathered} A=4\cdot(3)/(2) \\ A=(12)/(2) \\ A=6 \end{gathered}

Add both areas to find the area of the figure


\begin{gathered} A_T=9+6 \\ A_T=15 \end{gathered}
