SOLUTION

Find the length of the segment connecting (-2, 1) and (6. - 1) .

In this question, we have the formulae for length segment

D^2 = ( x 2 - x 1 ) ^2 + ( y2 - y 1 )^2

( x 1 , y 1 ) = (-2, 1) , ( x 2 , y 2 ) = ( 6 , -1 )

D^2 = ( 6 - - 2 ) ^2 + ( -1 - 1 ) ^2

D^2 = ( 8 ) ^2 + ( -2 )^2

D^2 = 64 + 4

D^2 = 68

square- root both sides, we have

D = 8.246

D = 8 . 2 ( nearest tenth)
