Simplify the expression to obtain the value of n.

\begin{gathered} -5(3n+4)=40 \\ 3n+4=(40)/(-5) \\ 3n+4=-8 \\ 3n=-8-4 \\ n=-(12)/(3) \\ =-4 \end{gathered}

Thus value of n is -4.
