SOLUTION

From the expression

x^2-5+2x+x^2

combining like terms we have to bring the x-squares together, we have

\begin{gathered} x^2+x^2-5+2x \\ 2x^2-5+2x \end{gathered}

To write in standard form, the 2x should come before the -5, so we have

2x^2+2x-5

Hence the answer is

2x^2+2x-5
