37. The given p-value is 0.5

Also the observed proportion is:

\hat{p}=30\%=0.3

And q is (1-p), so:

q=1-0.5=0.5

And the n-value is given 1158.

By replacing these values into the test statistic formula we obtain:

z=\frac{\hat{p}-p}{\sqrt[]{(p\cdot q)/(n)}}=\frac{0.3-0.5}{\sqrt[]{(0.5\cdot0.5)/(1158)}}=\frac{-0.2}{\sqrt[]{0.0002}}=(-0.2)/(0.015)=-13.61

The answer is -13.61
