The zero-factor property is


(x+a)(x+b)=0

Then we equate each factor by 0 and find the values of x

The given equation is


(x+4)(x-2)=1

Since the right side is not equal to 0, then

We can not use the zero-factor property to solve the equation

The answer is

zero-factor property cannot be used
