EXPLANATION

Given the points (x_1,y_1) = (-9,2) and (x_2,y_2) = (-4,2)

We can apply the distance formula in order to get the distance between them as shown as follows:


\text{distance}=\sqrt[]{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}

Replacing terms:


\text{distance}=\sqrt[]{(-4-(-9))^2+(2-2)^2}

Adding numbers:


\text{distance}=\sqrt[]{(5)^2+(0)^2}

Computing the powers:


\text{distance}=\sqrt[]{25}=5

Hence, the distance is equal to 5 units.
