The common cause of totalitarian rulers gaining power after WWI was the failure of the Treaty of Versailles to be fair. Imagine a world in which the treaty was more balanced. What would that have looked like? What changes could have been made to the treaty? Do you think that, if such changes had been implemented, totalitarian leaders would have risen to power?

If the Treaty of Versailles was more balanced I think that the tolitarian leaders would not have been as common. in Hitler's case he would have not become a dictator if Germany had not been humiliated the way it was. It was a similar case for Benito Mussolini because he would not have been as popular due to Italy's issues.
