We have to find the value of x, such that the function:

f(x)=6x

takes the value -24. This means that such x has to satisfy:

\begin{gathered} f(x)=-24 \\ 6x=-24 \end{gathered}

Now, we just clear out the variable x. We obtain:

\begin{gathered} x=-(24)/(6) \\ x=-4 \end{gathered}

This means that the value x=-4 makes the function f to be -24.
