SOLUTION

Let one of the numbers be x

Using the statement: The second number is 3 less than twice the first

Then the second number is

2x-3

Since, the sum of 2 numbers is 75

It follows:

x+2x-3=75

Solve for x

\begin{gathered} 3x=75+3 \\ 3x=78 \\ x=(78)/(3) \\ x=26 \end{gathered}

Therefore the first number is 24

The second number is

\begin{gathered} 2(26)-3 \\ =49 \end{gathered}

therefore the numbers are 49 and 26.
