we have the equation

(x)/(4)-(y)/(3)=1

To remove the fractions, multiply both sides by (4*3=12)

\begin{gathered} (12x)/(4)-(12y)/(3)=12 \\ 3x-4y=12 \\ 4y=3x-12 \\ y=(3)/(4)x-3 \end{gathered}

this is the equation of a line

that means

is a linear equation
