the closer the data points are to the mean value, the smaller the standard deviation. and the father away the data points are from the mean value, the larger the standard deviation.

(i) is wider dispersed. the sum of the differences to the mean value will be larger than for the other 2.

(ii) is the narrowest data set. there is very little variation around the mean value. so, the sum of the differences of the individual data points to the mean value will be smallest.

(iii) is a little bit wider than (ii), and a little bit narrower than (i).
