Derive the equation S=ut+½at²

Average velocity = (initial velocity + final velocity )/ 2

AVG v = (u+v)/2

Also,

Distance = avg v x time

s= ([u+v]/2) x t

s= distance travelled by a body in time t

u= initial velocity

a= acceleration

From the equation of motion:

v= u +at

Replacing

s= ( [u+u+at]/2)xt

s= [( 2u+ 2at ( x t ]/2

s= (2ut+at^2)/2

s= ut+1/2at^2
