-3(1+6r)=14-r

Distributing over parentheses,


\begin{gathered} -3\cdot1+(-3)\cdot6r=14-r \\ -3-18r=14-r \end{gathered}

Adding r at both sides,


\begin{gathered} -3-18r+r=14-r+r \\ -3-17r=14 \end{gathered}

Adding 3 at both sides,


\begin{gathered} -3-17r+3=14+3 \\ -17r=17 \end{gathered}

Dividing by -17 at both sides,


\begin{gathered} (-17r)/(-17)=(17)/(-17) \\ r=-1 \end{gathered}
