Explanation:

Let's find rectangular areas first.

16*24 + 10*16 (adding both areas of both rectangles)

384+160 = 544 sq cm

Now lets find the side triangles.

b*h/2 is the equation

24*10 = 240 (remove 1/2 because you have 2 triangles, 1/2*2 = 1)

240 sq cm + 544 sq cm = 784 sq cm.
