A shop has 5 cats for sale, 10 types of cat food and 4 varieties of kitty litter. If I go to the shop to buy one of each item, how many different combinations are possible?

Solution:

Given:


\begin{gathered} \text{Cats for sale=5} \\ \text{Cat food for sale=10} \\ \text{Kitty litter for sale=4} \end{gathered}

If one of each item is to be bought, then the possible different combinations are;


\begin{gathered} ^5C_1\text{.}^(10)C_1\text{.}^4C_1=5*10*4 \\ =200\text{ posible combinations} \end{gathered}

Therefore, there are 200 possible combinations if one of each item is gotten.
