next, we have to solve for y:

`\begin{gathered} (y-4)/(-2)=(1)/(2) \\ \Rightarrow y-4=-2\cdot(1)/(2)=-1 \\ \Rightarrow y=-1+4=3 \\ y=3 \end{gathered}`

therefore, y = 3
