We know that 1 mile is equivalent to 5280 feet. So we have that

6(ft)/(year)=6(ft)/(year)*((1mile)/(5280ft))

which gives

\begin{gathered} 6(ft)/(year)=6(ft*1mile)/(year*5280ft) \\ 6(ft)/(year)=(6)/(5280)(mile)/(year) \end{gathered}

Therefore, we get

6(ft)/(year)=0.0011363(mile)/(year)

By rounding to the nearest thousandth, the answer is:

0.001(mile)/(year)
