Since the width of the first dress is 3 feet 6 inches

Since the width of the second dress is 2 feet 10 inches

We will add their widths by adding feet and inches

\begin{gathered} 3ft+2ft=5ft \\ 6in\mathrm{}+10in\mathrm{}=16in\text{.} \end{gathered}

The width of both is 5 feet 16 inches

Since 1 foot = 12 inches, then subtract 12 from 16 inches and add feet by 1

\begin{gathered} 16in-12in=4in \\ 16in=1ft,4in \end{gathered}

The width of the 2 dresses is

5ft+16in=5ft+1ft+4in=6ft\text{ 4in}

The answer is 6 feet 4 inches
