Recall that the distance between two points say

\begin{gathered} A(x_1,y_1)andB(x_2,y_2)\text{ is given as} \\ √((x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2) \\ So\text{ that the distance between the points }(x_1,y_1)\text{ = }(10,\text{ -2) and }(x_2,y_2)=(-2,3)\text{ is} \\ \sqrt{(-2-10)^2\text{ + }\left\lbrace \text{3-(}-2\right)\}^2} \\ √((-12)^2+(5)^2) \\ \sqrt{144\text{ + 25}} \\ √(169) \\ =\text{ 13 units} \end{gathered}
