1. We must solve the equation

15=3(2x+4)-3

in order to find the value of x.

2. Because of the addition property of equality, if we add 3 to both sides of the equation we get

18=3(2x+4)

3. We multiply the 3 on the right side of the equation by what's inside the parentheses (2x+4) and we get

18=6x+12

4. Because of the subtraction property of equality, if we subtract 12 from both sides of the equation, it results in

6=6x

5. Because of the division property of equality, if we divide both sides of the equation by 6, then

1=x

6. Thus,

x=1
