X= 5cm

Y=15cm

Explanation:

Using by Pythagoras theorem .

The following relation hold for the dimensions of the triangle;

(Hypotenuse)²=(height)²+(base)²

=> H²=h²+b²

On first triangle the unknown X is the hypotenuse, therefore

X² = 3²+4²

=9+16

x² =25

X=√25

X=5cm

On the second triangle, the unknown Y is the height which is given by ;

h²=H²-b²

=>. Y²= 25²-20²

625-400

Y= √225

=15cm
