Define the variables for the amount of money Joseph has to spend on snacks and describe the constraint for the following situation. Joseph is going to the movies with his friends. He wants to get both candy popcorn as a snack. He was given $10 to spend on snacks. A. c= cost of candy and p= cost of popcorn; 10 < c + p < 20B. c= cost of candy and p= cost of popcorn; 0 < c + p < 10C. c= cost of candy and p= cost of popcorn; 0 > c – p < 10D. c= cost of candy and p= cost of popcorn; 0 > c + p > 10

Solution

Let c represent the candy

Let p represent the popcorn

He wants to get both candy popcorn as a snack = c + p

He was given $10 to spend on snacks.

He cant spend above $10 cause that was the amount ,he was given to spend.

Therefore the c= cost of candy and p= cost of popcorn; 0 ≤ c + p ≤ 10

So the answer is Option B
