We need to figure out how to graph the equations with absolute value in a graphing calculator.

Let's see, how to graph the equation in a):

|x|=x^2+x-3

One way of doing so is by using the functions:

\begin{gathered} f(x)=|x| \\ \\ g(x)=x^2+x-3 \end{gathered}

Then, the points of intersection of those two functions will be the solution to:

\begin{gathered} f(x)=g(x) \\ \text{ or} \\ |x|=x^2+x-3 \end{gathered}

It is also possible to write "y" instead of "f(x)" or "g(x)".
