Let x be the amount that Bahjo spent at the store. Assuming she bought at least the candy bars, since she know that she didn't spend more than 2.99, then that means that x is less than 2.98. So we get


x<2.99

This means that


x\le2.98

So at most the candy bars could have cost 2.98
