Answer:

The mother is 55 years old and the daughter is 3 years old now

Explanation:

Mother is 27 years older than her daughter but 1 year ago she was twice as old as her daughter. But the question is asking how old are they now? (the next year)

Her daughter is 27 years younger than her mother she was 2 last year. This year she is 3 because all your doing is just multiplying

27×2+1 and 1×2+1

The first thing we have to do is identify the equations:

\begin{gathered} M\to Mother\text{ age} \\ D\to\text{ Daughter age} \end{gathered}
\begin{gathered} M=27\to(1) \\ (M_{}-1)=2D\to(2) \end{gathered}

We replace the equation 1 by 2 to find the age of the daughter

\begin{gathered} (27-1)=2D \\ 26=2D \\ D=(26)/(2) \\ D=13 \end{gathered}

Daughter is 13 years old at present
