the hypotenuse always has a larger measure

so, should be 53

but we can check with pythagoras


a^2+b^2=h^2

where a=28 and b=45 and h should be 45


\begin{gathered} 28^2+45^2=h^2 \\ h=\sqrt[]{28^2+45^2} \\ h=\sqrt[]{2809} \\ h=53 \end{gathered}

so the hypotenuse is 53
