Let us use the formula with the point (4,5) and (0,2)


\begin{gathered} d=\sqrt[]{(x_1-x_2)^2+(y_1-y_2)^2}=\sqrt[]{(4-0)^2+(5-2)^2} \\ =\sqrt[]{16+9}=\sqrt[]{25}=5 \end{gathered}
