accordig to the question ,

the new mix is 70 pounds

so , x + y = 70 ..................(1)

and sells for $ 8.65 per pound

so , 8.30x + 13.20y = 70*8.65.............(2)

solve equation 1 and 2


\begin{gathered} x+y=70 \\ 8.30x+13.20y=605.5 \end{gathered}

on solving these linear equation , we obtain


x=65,y=5
