In the addition step, 5.67 is written as 5.670. Does this change the value of 5.67?

No, a number such as 2.5 is the same as 2.50 because the zero is a place holder if the zero was after the decimal it would change the number, 2.05 this is a completely different number than 2.50. Now if the zero was before the decimal it would also change the number such as 20.5
