If cell division produces more and more identical cells, what explains how specialized cells such as blood cells, muscle cells, and nerve cells form?.

Every cell of our body contains essentially the exact same DNA. However, there are so many different types of cells with different roles so how is this possible? The answer is varied gene expression and regulation. There are numerous forms of gene regulation that are activated or repressed by outside stimuli. Muscle cells contain the DNA to act as nerve cells however they only express the DNA that allows them to fill their role as a muscle cell.
