Solution

For this case we have the following equation:

2^(n+1)=(1)/(8)

And we can do the following:

(2^n)/(2)=(1)/(8)

Solving for n we have:

2^n=(1)/(4)

Then we can apply natural log on both sides and we got:

n\ln (2)=\ln ((1)/(4))
n=(\ln (0.25))/(\ln (2))=-4
