On the other hand Nicole finds x = y - 10 in the other equation.

We can get Jared's equation from Nicole's equation by making y subject of the formula. So,

x = y - 10

So, y = x + 10 which is Jared's equation.

We can also get Nicole's equation from Jared's equation by making x subject of the formula. So,

y = x + 10

So, x = y - 10 which is Jared's equation.

Since from one equations, we can get the other, and both equations for x and y are the same from both equations, that is, from y = x + 10, we get x = y - 10 and, from x = y - 10, we get y = x + 10,both Nicole and Jared are correct
