Answer:

a) "Like terms" are terms whose variables (and their exponents such as the 2 in x²) are the same

8y, -3y and y are all likes terms because the variables are all y

b)


(-2x+8y-11)+(-3y-y+5)\\\\=-2x+8y-11-3y-y+5\\\\=-2x+(8y-3y-y)+(5-11)\\\\=-2x+4y-6\\\\=2(-x+2y-3)\\\\=-2(x-2y+3)
