To answer this question we need to know how much does it cost to purchase steak per pound in the second grocery.

To do this we can calculate the slope of the points in the table, remember that the slope is given by

m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)

Using the first to rows of the table we have

\begin{gathered} m=(21.75-14.5)/(3-2) \\ =(7.25)/(1) \\ =7.25 \end{gathered}

Hence, in the second grocery we pay $7.25 per pound.

Now, from the equation given for the first grocery store we know we pay $6.75 per pound.

From this prices we notice that the cost of steak at grocery store 1 is $0.5

less per pound than at grocery store 2.

Therefore the answer is D.
