In order to calculate the expected value of x, we can add the score of all students and divide by the number of students. So we have:

\begin{gathered} E(x)=(82\cdot2+84\cdot5+99\cdot3)/(10) \\ E(x)=88.1 \end{gathered}

So the expected value of x is 88.1.
