We have to find the first step to solve the equality:

(2x-5)/(2)=-18

As the quotient is blocking us from substracting an adding to solve the equation, the first step is to remove the denominator by multiplying both sides by 2.

Then we would get:

\begin{gathered} (2x-5)/(2)\cdot2=-18\cdot2 \\ 2x-5=-36 \end{gathered}

And we can continue to solve the equality.

Answer: Option B. Multiply by 2 on both sides.
